I run free SME business marketing clinics in Berkshire and last week one visitor said:
“With Coronavirus should I be doing more on my business website?”
The answer I gave was “NO!” But I did follow it up with,
“Actually you should be working on your business website regularly, not waiting for a crisis to hit. Your website is the core of your online marketing.”
Before every marketing clinic I do a check of the business website. In over 50% of the checks you can tell that it’s not updated regularly – and that’s a ‘kind’ percentage, reality is higher. Yet everybody knows that Google likes to see websites updated regularly to gain higher rankings. So why no action, no focus, no importance placed on a selling resource?
Along with that lack of updating comes a real and serious lack of SEO to push your site up the Google search page results; a lack of attention to website error messages; and a general lack of focus on what is, and should be, a showcase for your business and a key lead generation machine.
But having said that, it’s understandable (not acceptable!) that as an SME you have a business to run and the focus is on the business, your services, your products and your clients. But I would suggest, actually insist, that your website is a major part of your business. So you can’t afford to let it slip.
But it did get me thinking.
How can we provide free help to businesses to keep things going?
Those of us who can are now working from home and your business still has to be a focus – after family health. So what better time to rekindle your interest and focus on your website, analyse your website performance and make adjustments and tweaks? Your business website can be a silent seller working for you in the background, but just like a car, if you don’t maintain your website then it will let you down.
Now is not the time to be let down by your business website, it needs to be found easily.
Page updates, site content, blogs – you don’t need our help to create and manage that, but you probably need our help to analyse the SEO and other aspects of your site. And while now is an optimum time to ramp up marketing, you’re probably not thinking that this is the time to employ a marketing agency to manually analyse SEO and website technical performance.
So…
We decided to make our website analysis report free while businesses are suffering from the effects on business of the CoronaVirus/Covid-19. A report which shows you what needs tweaking and gives details on what that means so you can modify it.
We’ve produced an automated report that gives you:
- A quick snapshot view of the site performance and issues
- A list of the tests that have been run and results
- A link to download a report that tells you what each test means and what you need to do to rectify any issues
It’s automated so it won’t dig down to the same depth as a manual review by one of our consultants, and it’s new so there may be a few typos and hiccies (!), but bear with us and we’ll get to those in time.
While you are working from home you can now work on your website and make it work better for your business.
Just visit this page and enter your business website details to run, view and download the website performance analysis:

And if you do need more help, we’re working from home as well so can assist!
